Barbara Spack to Speak about Religion & Politics in Israel

Wednesday, May 22 at 7:30 PM
Neve Shalom, 250 Grove Avenue, Metuchen, NJ (Map)
Category: Families, Learning, Lectures, Religious services, Seniors, Singles

If you are curious about the policy-making role of Israel’s ultra-orthodox rabbis, you won’t want to miss an insightful presentation to the Metuchen-Edison Chapter of Hadassah by Central NJ’s resident guru, Barbara Spack, at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, May 22, at Neve Shalom, 250 Grove Avenue, Metuchen. Often on the front lines as a participant or observer of important trends in Israeli life, Barbara will address: “Religion & Politics in Israel,” with a discussion prompted by issues surrounding women’s prayer activities at the Kotel. Do these issues in Israel impact us here in New Jersey? Do America’s laws separating Church and State color our views on Israeli policy? Come find out! Inspirational and knowledgeable, Barbara is a member of the Activism and Partnerships committee of the Jewish Agency for Israel Board of Governors and serves as the Secretary for the World Confederation of United Zionists. She sits on the Boards of the Jewish Council for Public Affairs and the Jewish National Fund and has chaired numerous Israel-related Hadassah initiatives. She’ll follow her talk with a Question & Answer session. There is no charge for this event and refreshments will be served. Contact Linda Erdreich (lindaerd@gmail.com) for more information.

Season Opener and Presentation by New Officers

Thursday, May 30 at 7:00 PM
JCC of Edison, 1775 Oak Tree Road Edison, NJ 08820 (Map)
Category: Families, Seniors, Singles

The Hillel’s Angels motorcycle touring club serves to provide people of the Jewish faith with an organization that recognizes and embraces the motorcycle riding enthusiasts that live within our community by providing its members with organized riding and non-riding events.
This is the first meeting since the election of our new board, who have spent considerable effort to ensure a GREAT riding season for 2013. As you can see from the calendar portion of our website (http://hillelsangels.com/htdocs/home.html ) many rides are already planned and there will be many more posted as the weeks progress.  Official HA merchandise will be available at the meeting: Flags, small and large HA patches, some t-shirts and yarmulkes. There is a Chili’s nearby should anyone want to grab a bite and schmooze afterwards. This is also a great opportunity for prospective members to come by and see what we are all about. Hope to see you all soon.
