The National Yiddish Theatre – Folksbeine presentation of “Mama’s Loshn Kugel”

Sunday, June 23 at 2:00 PM
Freehold Jewish Center, 59 Broad Street, Freehold, NJ, 07728 (Map)
Category: Performances

The Jewish Heritage Museum of Monmouth County and The Freehold Jewish Center proudly present The National Yiddish Theatre – Folksbeine presentation of “Mama’s Loshn Kugel”.  The performance will take place on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at The Freehold Jewish Center, 59 Broad Street, Freehold, NJ, 07728 at 2 PM.  Tickets are $25.00 each, with groups of 10 or more $20.00 each and students $10.00 each.  The performance is partially funded by a grant from the Jewish Federation of Monmouth County.

The National Theater Folksbeine is a professional theater company in New York City which produces both Yiddish plays and plays translated into Yiddish—with English titles projected onto a screen simultaneously.  Folksbeine (Yiddish for the People’s Stage) was founded in 1915 on New York City’s Lower East Side.  The era it was founded is considered to be the height of Yiddish theater (there were 15 Yiddish theater companies in New York at the time, now there are five worldwide).  Its productions have garnered critical acclaim and its 2006 production of Di Yam Gazlonim, a Yiddish adaptation of The Pirates of Penzance was nominated for the 2007 Drama Desk Award for outstanding revival.

Join us for a festive afternoon of classic Yiddish humor and theater songs presented by the internationally recognized and award winning troupe and bring the whole family.

For further information and tickets call the Museum (732-252-6990) or visit www.jhmomc.org to buy tickets online. Tickets will be held at The Freehold Jewish Center with general seating.
