Key obstacle

Re “The two-state solution is in Israel’s best interest,”

Yes, I agree with the message of the title of the May 24 commentary, “The two-state solution is inIsrael’s best interest.” But I did not find any discussion as to how the apparent key obstacle — the Palestinian refugee demand — should be approached to reach a mutually acceptable agreement. The implementation of this demand would end Israel as a Jewish state.

Can you ignore this refugee issue? Wouldn’t you expect the Palestinian refugees and their supporters to express their hostility toward Israel and to others who have reneged on their long standing promise of their return to pre-’67 Israel? The assassination of Egypt’s President, Anwar Sadat, was condoned by his enemies because the 1973 Israeli-Egyptian Peace Treaty did not address the Palestinian interests.
