George Rothbart

George Rothbart, 90, of Lake Worth, Fla., died July 8, 2012. Born in Brooklyn, he grew up in Newark and moved to Colonia in the 1960s.

Mr. Rothbart owned a hardware store on Newark’s Chancellor Avenue, later moving it to Lyons Avenue. After moving to Colonia he and his wife worked for Capital Lighting until their retirement.

He served in the Army during World War II.

He was an active member of Temple Beth Torah, Wellington, Fla., acting as the chair of its adult Torah study group for many years.

Predeceased by his wife, Ethel, he is survived by his daughter, Renee Rissin; his son, David; a sister, Rosalyn Ball; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services were held July 11 with arrangements by Star of David, West Palm Beach, Fla.
