Marianne Silver

Marianne Lewin Silver, 95, of Lakewood died June 7, 2012. Born in Breslau, Germany, she moved to Lakewood in 1955.

Mrs. Silver was a dancer in Europe during World War II. She began to teach dance after immigrating to the United States, opening her own dance studio in her Lakewood home in 1956. She eventually opened the Lakewood School of Dance & Theatre Arts, which she actively operated until she was 89. Her daughter, Angela Corenblith, now runs the school, which held its 56th annual recital on June 10.

She was a member of Temple Beth Am Shalom, Lakewood.

Predeceased by her husband, Geoffrey, she is survived by two daughters, Bernice Ippolito of Florida and Angela Corenblith of Lakewood; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

Services were held June 11 with arrangements by Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Ocean. Memorial contributions may be made to the Marianne Silver Memorial Dance Scholarship.
