Rochelle Bernhardt

Rochelle Solomon Bernhardt, 74, of Gainesville, Fla., died May 10, 2012. Born in Neptune, she grew up in Morganville and also lived in East Brunswick and Monroe Township.

Mrs. Bernhardt spent her childhood in the Morganville General Store, owned and operated by her parents. She was valedictorian of her senior class at Freehold High School in 1956 and graduated from Douglass College at Rutgers in 1960. She taught special education at Appleby Public Elementary School in Spotswood for many years and was active in the leadership of many Jewish organizations, including the Alisa Chapter of Hadassah in Monroe Township.

Predeceased by her husband, Dr. Lewis, in 1998, she is survived by two sons, Dr. Jay of Gainesville and Marc of Winston-Salem, NC; a brother, David Solomon of Montville; and four grandchildren.

Services were held May 14 with arrangements by Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to Hadassah and the Scleroderma Foundation.
