Andrew,

You are absolutely right when you say that it is the Palestinians who have associated the keffiyeh with jihad, and their supporters understand the message when they choose to wear it. In fact, I have never seen the version made popular by Arafat, at least not in the West, ever donned by anyone who wasn't trying to make an anti-Israel statement. I'm not sure if Ray understood what she was doing, but DD was right to pull the ad.

Now, why is it necessary for you to engage in name calling when it comes to Michelle Malkin? She has views on some issues that are to the right of mine, but that doesn't make her a bad person or an "alarmist." I disagree with her about the war in Iraq, but her support for Israel, her concern about terrorists and criminals entering the US and her comprehension of the jihadist ideology are valuable contributions to the political discussion in this country.

Your views on many issues are to the left of mine. But I still read your thought-provoking articles, however infuriating I sometimes find them. And I never thought to label you "to the left of Stalin." It's time to grow up and appreciate that we can have friends with whom we disagree politically.

Michelle Malkin is a friend of the Jewish community and she doesn't deserve to be slandered for taking a stand against anti-Israel chic, whether or not the keffeyeh was intentionally chosen to make a political statement. It had no business in an ad for DD.

By the way, when was the last time you saw Michelle Malkin on Fox News? They haven't used her as a commentator in a long time.
