You’re a riot, Andrea
Hold on: It took only one day for someone to seize the title of “Week’s Worst Holocaust Analogy” from Alan Kaufman.
Here’s Andrea Peyser writing in the New York Post about the “War on Christmas”:
You can blame cheerless humbugs for snatching red and green napkins from classrooms in Plano, Texas. You can blame goblins for sucking “Dreidel Dreidel” and “Silent Night” from concerts at Maplewood, NJ, schools, drawing more legal action than flies to dung.
But during this season, you might want to blame the lawyers for spoiling the peace. Because the irrational fear of lawsuits has done more damage to holiday spirit than the Nazis did at Kristallnacht.
Yeow! I can’t decide what’s worse – that she equates civil liberties lawyers with Nazis, or that she thinks that Kristallnacht — an anti-Jewish pogrom that killed hundreds and set the stage for genocide – is best remembered for having harshed the Jews’ mellow on the eve of Chanukah.
Either way, Peyser’s a winner!
