The best things in life are free (agents)

More than 160 major leaguers have filed for free agency including such big names as Curt Schilling, Ken Griffey, Jr., Mark Teixiera, Pedro Martinez, Nomar Garciapparra and more.

The only two Jewish players on the list are outfielder Gabe Kapler, who provided veteran leadership as a bench player for the Milwaukee Brewers, and catcher Brad Ausmus, with 16 years under his belt.

Ausmus hit .218 with three home runs and 24 runs batted in in limited service for the Houston Astros. At 38, he may be ready to retire. Kapler, on the other hand, batted .301 with eight homers and 38 RBI as a part timer. He sustained a couple of injuries that prevented him from even bigger contributions, but at 32, it would seem he still has something left in the tank.
