Move over, Lennie. Here comes Adam
You know you’re team is in trouble when your punter is the only player standing between the return man and big yardage. Such was the case in the Nov. 23 game in the Jacksonville Jaguars’ 30-12 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. As reported on ESPN.com:
Podlesh…injured his right knee trying to make a tackle Sunday against Minnesota. He averaged 43.2 yards a punt, which ranked 22nd in the league.
Podlesh, who had played in 27 consecutive games after being selected in the fourth round of the 2007 draft, had 46 punts in 11 games this year for 1,989 yards with a 43.2 gross average and 36.6 net average.
He joins co-religionist Lennie Friedman of the Cleveland Browns on the injured reserve list.
Mizpeh, the monthly independent student newspaper for the Jewish community at the University of Maryland- College Park, ran this profile on Podlesh in 2005.
