Riding off into the sunset?
Sage Rosenfels had an international audience as he led the Houston Texans to a 30-17 victory over the visiting Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday Night Football this week. He completed 14 of 24 passes for 200 yards, one touchdown pass (his sixth this season), and one interception (his 10th) to help Houston make a successful MNF debut.
But the tall Texan might be heading for the bunkhouse: Starting QB Matt Schaub, recovering from a knee injury, may be back for the Dec. 7 game against the Green Bay Packers. Rosenfels was 2-3 as his replacement this year.
- Strange “foot” note: Adam Podlesh, the Jaguars’ Jewish punter, was unavailable to play against Houston, is out for the year with an injury sustained on Nov. 23. The Texans beat the Cleveland Browns that day, who were without the services of offensive lineman Lennie Friedman, who is also out for the season. Coincidence? Perhaps, but the San Diego Chargers’ Igor Olshansky and David Binn should consider themselves lucky they don’t play Houston this year.
- Olshansky made four solo tackles, a personal season high, against the Atlanta Falcons on Nov. 30, but the team still lost, 22-16. Binn also made the start at his usual center spot.
