You know your book has made it when…
It appears on a hit TV show like CSI.
I don’t normally watch the show, but I caught a recent episode “on demand” and noticed this from a scene in a prison library. It comes about 20 seconds in and you have to be alert: as Gil Grissom is looking for a book an inmate has checked out, the camera pans across the shelf, and there it is: Luckiest Man, Jonathan Eig‘s biography on Lou Gehrig.
I wonder how much thought went into the selection of the props because it’s kind of funny, when you think about it: Prisoners are famously unlucky, and Lou Gehrig was living the last few years of his life facing a death sentence.
And no, Eig — who also wrote Opening Day: The Story of Jackie Robinson’s First Season — didn’t get paid for the product placement.
