At this rate, it will only take me 300 years to catch up

How’s this for depressing:

ESPN.com has a “Salary Crunch” calculator to see how your salary stacks up against such players as C.C. Sabathia ($23 million average in his new Yankees pact), Alex Rodriguez ($28 million), Albert Pujols (almost $13.9 million), and other marquee major leaguers.

Just plug in your per annum and see that A-Rod makes that much in one trip to the plate, or that Cliff Lee, the American league Cy Young winner ($4 million), doesn’t even have to win one-third of a game.

The site also thoughtfully figures out how much time it would take you in your present circumstance to make as much as the ballplayers, who also include AL MVP Dustin Pedroia $6.75 million); newly-signed Mets reliever Francisco Rodriguez (F-Rod? $12.3 million); NL Cy Young winner Tim Lincecum (a bargain at $405,000); and Mets ace Johan Santana (just under $17 million).
