What’s cookin’ on the hot stove?

The Red Sox should re-invest in their former player, Gabe Kapler, according to Sean McAdam in The Boston Herald of Jan. 6.

The Sox still have a need for a right-handed-hitting outfielder, however. Gabe Kapler, Act 3, remains an option, and the club hasn’t ruled out Rocco Baldelli, who continues to get more information about his medical condition and limitations. Beyond Kapler and Baldelli, the free agents and non-tender options are decidedly unimpressive.

Well, the Sox signed Baldelli today, so one wonders where that leaves Kapler, who batted over .300 for the Milwaukee Brewers in 2007.

Meanwhile, former Houston Astros catcher Brad Ausmus looks to be heading to the West Coast, as either a backup with the San Diego Padres or Los Angeles Dodgers.
