Welcome to the big time, Trevor Smith
The 22-year-old forward made his NHL debut for the New York Islanders on Dec. 31 against the Florida Panthers. His first goal came in his fifth game, on Jan. 8 against the Calgary Flames. (I wonder if they give rookies the puck for that, like baseball players get the ball for their first major league hit.)
Prior to the promotion, Smith had played most recent for the Utah Grizzles of the East Coast Hockey League, which makes you wonder who drew up that map?
