Ausmus gets to be a JML for one more year

Ausmus, who spent the last eight years with the Houston Astros, has found a home away from home (he lives in Del Mar, about 100 miles away), signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers Veteran for a one-year contract worth $1 million.

He batted .218 with three homers and 24 RBIs in as a backup backstop, a role he’ll repeat behind Russell Martin in Los Angeles.

According to an AP report: “He’s excited about it,” said Ausmus’ agent, Peter Mrowka. “He’s looking forward to playing with the Dodgers and for Joe Torre.”

Ausmus, who turns 40 in April, can earn an additional $350,000 in performance bonuses based on plate appearances.
