Another honor for Montclair soccer star
Yael Averbuch, a senior soccer player at the University of North Carolina, has been chosen as the 2009 Marty Glickman Outstanding Jewish Female Scholastic Athlete of the Year by the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.
Averbuch, who led the Tar Heels to the 2008 NCAA championship, will be playing professional soccer for the Sky Blue FC in New York.
This is the second time that Averbuch — a three-time All-America and NSCAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year — has received the Glickman Award. The award will be presented at the Hall of Fame’s April 26 induction ceremony at the Suffolk Y JCC in Commack, NY.
