Jews and Arabs extending a hand towards athletic cooperation

It’s not quite Rocky (although maybe it is in a sense), but here’s a story from the IvoryTowerz, a blog on culture and society, about an unlikely 1-2 boxing combination: a Israel Jewish gym owner and a young Palestinian boxer. I can see the movie now.

In another tale, perhaps feet would be more accurate: From The Jerusalem Post comes this story about a soccer team comprised of young Israeli Jews and Arabs that will compete in a tournament held in Germany.

“Our project is not only about playing soccer. More importantly, it’s about improving relations between two communities who live side by side in Israel,” the club’s Jewish president, Alon Liel — a former Foreign Ministry director-general and a resident of Mevaseret Zion — told The Jerusalem Post….
