I spoke with Ausmus many years ago for an article in a Jewish publication and he seemed a bit reticent in discussing his religious upbringing — Christian father/Jewish mother — but it’s interesting to see how he’s changed his tune. I guess playing in towns with large and active Jewish communities helps, and it doesn’t get much bigger than L.A.
