On the ups: John Grabow (Pirates) picthed a scoreless eighth as Pittsburgh beat the Mets for the second straight game, 3-1. He obviously prefers to work closer to home: When the Pirates visited Citi Field last month, Grabow pitched in two games, giving up six runs on eight hits inb just two innings. Craig Breslow (Athletics) pitched 2/3 of an inning in Oakland’s 5-0 shutout of the White Sox.
On the downs:
Pareve: Kevin Youkilis (Red Sox) was 0-3 with a walk and an RBI as Boston beat Detroit, 5-1. Ian Kinsler (Rangers) had a hit in five at bats in Texas’ 12-4 pasting by the Yankees. Ryan Braun (Brewers) was 1-3 as the Marlins beat Milwaukee, 10-3. Brad Aumus (Dodgers) made a rare midweek start, going hitless in three at bats as LA scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth to slip by the Diamondbacks, 6-5.
