JML Update: Games of June 3

On the ups: Scott Feldman (Rangers) improved his record to 5-0, tossing 6.1 innings in beating the Yankees, 4-2. Ian Kinsler, who led off the game with a walk and scored the first run for Texas, was on base four times with two hits and another walk. He also drove in a run.

Ryan Braun (Brewers) went 2-5 with his tenth homer of the year as Milwaukee bested Florida, 9-6. Braun had to RBI, raising his total to 34. Kevin Youkilis (Red Sox) also had two hits, including a double) as Boston doubled up on Detroit, 10-5. But the first baseman, who recently returned from a stint on the dsabled list,  was slightly injured when a baserunner inadvertantly kicked him in the ankle on a cloase play.

On the downs: After two good starts, Jason Marquis (Rockies) suffered his fourth loss of the season, giving up 10 hits and four walks in six innings at the hands of the Astros, who took the game 6-4. Josh Whitesell (Diamondbacks) was hitless in three at bats, striking out twice, as the Dodgers eked out a 1-0 win over Arizona.

Pareve: Gabe Kapler (Rays) was 0-1 in Tampa Bay’s 9-0 whitewashing of the Royals.

DNP: Brad Ausumus (Dodgers); Craig Breslow (Athletics); John Grabow (Pirates, rainout);  Scott Schoeneweis (Diamondbacks, restricted list)
