JML update: Games of June 25
On the ups: Mazel tov to Aaron Peroda (White Sox), who picked up his first Major League victory last night by pitching the final frame in Chicago’s 13-inning 6-5 decision over the Dodgers. Peroda, who has yet to give up a run in the Bigs, struck out Mark Loretta and Andre Ethier, giving him six Ks in 4.2 innings. Ian Kinsler (Rangers) was also involved in an extra-inning win — 9-8 over the Diamondbacks — collecting two hits, two walks, scoring three and stealign a base. John Grabow (Pirates) had an exciting eighth inning in the Bucs’ 3-2 win over the Indians: he walked the bases loaded, but struck out two to quash the threat. Gabe Kapler (Rays) doubled and walked in Tampa Bay’s 10-3 drubbing of the Phillies.
On the downs: Someone forgot to tell Brad Ausmus (Dodgers) that it wasn’t Sunday. He went 0-4 in the Dodger’s loss to the White Sox. Kevin Youkilis (Red Sox) was hitless as a pinch hitter in Boston’s 9-3 loss to the lowly Washington Nationals. Scott Feldman (Rangers) started the game against the Diamondbacks, going six innings and allowing three runs on four hits, walking one, strikoing out one, and yielding a home run. Scott Schoeneweis (Diamonbacks) struck out the only batter he faced in his team’s loss to the Rangers.
Pareve: Ryan Braun (Brewers) hit his 16th homer of the year, but Milwaukee still lost to Minnesota, 6-4.
DNP: Jason Marquis (Rockies); Craig Breslow (Athletics, no game)
