JML Update: Games of July 6

On the ups: Jason Marquis (Rockies) finished up his first half in style, proving he belongs on the NL All-Star team. He hurled eight scoreless innings against the Washington Nationals, nothcing his league-leading 11th win, while lowering his earned run average to a respectable 3.61. He fanned three and walked a pair. Marquis even picked up a hit in three times to the plate.

On the downs: Kevin Youkilis (Red Sox) took an 0-4 collar, dropping his batting average under .300 for the first time this year, as Boston fell to Oakland 6-0. Sam Fuld (Cubs) went all the way down, optioned back to the minors as Aramis Ramirez was activated from the 15-day disabled list. Fuld batted .364 in limited duty since he was brought up on June 29.

Pareve: Ian Kinsler (Rangers) hit his 20th homer of the year (a two-run job), but it wasn’t enough as The Angels beat Texas 9-4. Scott Schoeneweis (Diamondbacks) gave up a run inone-third of an inning, but Arizona prevailed over the Padres, 6-5.
