JML update: Games of July 7
On the ups: Gabe Kapler (Rays) walked to drive in the first run of the game against the Blue Jays that Tampa would go on to win 3-1 in 11 innings. John Grabow (Pirates) pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings to pick up his 15th hold in Pitsburgh’s 6-3 victory over the Astros. Well, it had to happen sooner or later: Aaron Poreda (White Sox) gave up his first run of the season, allowing the tally in 1 2/3 innings in Chicago’s 10-6 win over the Indians. Scott Schoeneweis (Diamondbacks) picked up his fifth hold by tossing 2/3 of an inning in a 4-3 win over the Padres,
On the downs: Kevin Youkilis (Red Sox) was 0-4 in Boston’s 5-2 win over Oakland. Ryan Braun (Brewers) was also hitless in four at bats in a 5-0 loss to the Cardinals.
Pareve: Craig Breslow (Athletics) pitched in the Boston game (one inning, one strikeout), but did not face his fellow MOT. Ian Kinsler (Rangers) was 1-5 — a double — and stole his 17th base as Texas put down the Angels, 8-5
