JML Update: Games of July 19

On the ups: Jason Marquis (Rockies, right) picked up is league-leading 12th win in a sparkler against the San Diego Padres. He allowed just five hits and one run in eight innings, taking the 6-1 decision. Ian Kinsler (Rangers), was 2-6 — hoth homer suns — and had three runs batted in, as Texas defeated the Twins, 5-3. Brad Ausmus (Dodgers) was 2-3 — both doubles — with two runs batted in as LA beat Houston, 4-3.

On the downs: Ryan Braun (Brewers) was 0-4 with two strikeouts in Milwaukee’s 6-3 loss to the Reds. Aaron Poreda (White Sox) walked the only two batters he faced and gave up a run as the Orioles’ wrung out Chicago, 10-2.

Pareve: Kevin Youkilis (Red Sox) is showing signs of life, going 4-11 with two doubles and a home run since the break. In yesterday’s loss to the Blue Jays, Youk went 2-4 with his 23rd double of the year, to push his batting average back over the .300 mark.

DNP: Gabe Kapler (Rays), Sam Fuld (Cubs, sent down to AAA Iowa today), John Grabow (Pirates), Scott Schoeneweis (Diamondbacks), Scott Breslow (As), Scott Feldman (Rangers).
