JML Update: Games of July 21
On the ups: Gabe Kapler (Rays) was 1-3 in Tampa’s 3-2 win over the White Sox. Also on the ups: Fans of JML. There are 13 MOT in the mjaors at the moment. I’m going to check, but I believe this is a record for most at any one time. Add Sam Fuld, the Cubs outfielder who was just returned to the minors, and that might be the high water mark for a single season.
On the downs: After last night’s performance, Ryan Sadowski (Giants) probably wishes they left him in the minors at least one more day. In 3.2 innings against the Braves, he gave up eight runs on eight hits and three walks to suffer the 8-1 loss, his second straight after two scoreless outings his first two times out. His earned run average zoomed from 1.00 to 4.15. John Grabow (Pirates) gave up one hit to drive in a run and struck out another batter in 1/3 of an inning in a 2-0 loss to the Brewers.
Pareve: Ian Kinsler (Rangers) hit his 20th double of the year and scores a run in four at bats as Texas knocked Boston out of first place with a 4-2 win. Kevin Youkilis (Red Sox) was also 1-4 with a double, along with a run batted in. Ryan Braun (Brewers) was 1-5 in Milwaukee’s win over Pittsburgh.
DNP: Scott Feldman (Rangers), Aaron Poreda (White Sox), Scott Schoeneweis and Josh Whitesell (Diamondbacks), Jason Marquis (Rockies), Craig Breslow (As), Brad Ausmus (Dodgers).
