JML update: Weekend edition
Scott Feldman (Rangers) picked up his ninth win against three losses, tossing eight shutout innings as Texas downed Kansas City, 2-0, on Friday night. Feldman gave up just four hits and three walks. with two months-plus to go, he’s already established a career high in wins. Teammate Ian Kinsler inches closer to the 30/30 club. He now has 22 homers and 23 steals.
Ryan Braun (Brewers) had a triple and his 19th home run, but Milwaukee lost to the Braves, 9-4 on Friday.
Kevin Youkilis (Red Sox) continues to struggle, now down to .292. Josh Whitesell (Diamondbacks) is playing more regularly but not much better, with his own batting around the .200 mark. And relievers Craig Breslow (As), John Grabow (Pirates), and Scott Schoeneweis (Diamondbacks) have all had poor outings over the past week as well. Gabe Kapler (Rays) hasn’t done much since making that loud and exciting out in Mark Buerhle’s perfect game on July 23.
Jason Marquis (Rockies) missed his start with a blister on his pitching hand. All things being equal, he will take the hill tomorrow against the Mets at Citi Field.
Will the real Ryan Sadowski (Giants) please stand up? He was outstanding in his first two starts, winning both and not allowing a run. But in his last three (which sandwiched a quick return the the minors), the rookie is 0-3 with an ERA over 10.
Brad Ausmus (Dodgers) missed his weekly game.
