On the ups: Kevin Youkilis (Red Sox) was 1-4 with a walk and a run scored as Boston beat the Athletics, 8-3.
On the downs: Ian Kinsler (Rangers) was hitless in four at bats, although Texas was the 5-2 winner over Detroit.
Pareve: Ryan Braun (Brewers) had a great game — 3-4 with a walk, double, home run, two runs scored and two driven in — but it wasn’t enough as the lowly Nationals beat Milwaukee 14-6. Josh Whitesell (Diamondbacks) was 1-3 with a walk as Arizona fell to the Phils, 6-2. John Grabow (Pirates) walked three batters and gave up a hit, but somehow didn’t yield a run in the Giants’ 4-2 win over Pittsburgh.
