On the ups: Ryan Braun (Brewers) had two doubles and two runs batted in as Milwaukee beat the Dodgers, 4-1. Craig Breslow (As) picked up his fifth win, beating the Texas Rangers 7-5. Breslow evened his record at 5-5 with one inning of relief, allowing one run on one hit.
On the downs: Gabe Kapler (Rays) was 0-2 as Tampa beat Boston 6-4. Josh Whitesell (Diamondbacks) was 0-1 as a pinch hitter in Chicago’s 4-0 loss to Cincinnati, dropping his batting average below the .200 line. Sam Fuld (Cubs), was also hitless in a picnh-hitting role.
Pareve: Kevin Youkilis (Red Sox) had a double in four at bats and drove in a run on a ground ball out in the loss to Tampa Bay.
