On the ups: Ian Kinsler (Rangers) homered for the second straight game since his return from the DL. He also stolen another base in the game of Aug. 15 to move ever closer to the 30-30 club. Both victories came at the expense of the Youkilis-less Red Sox (see “DNP”). Ryan Braun (Brewers) was 3-4 with a home run, two runs, scored, and two RBI, but Milwaukee still managed to lose to the Astros. Gabe Kapler (Rays) was 1-3 in a victory over the Blue Jays.
On the downs:
Pareve: Josh Whitesell (Diamondbacks) was 1-3 with a run scored in Arizona’s loss to the Dodgers.
DNP: Kevin Youkilis (Red Sox, suspension); Scott Schoeneweis (Diamondbacks, Disabled List); Jason Marquis (Rockies), Scott Feldman (Rangers), John Grabow (Cubs, postponed by rain), Craig Breslow (As), Brad Ausmus (Dodgers).
And fare-the-well to Ryan Sadowski (Giants), who was returned to AAA Fresno earlier this month.
