JML update
Missed a few entries due to some R&R, so here goes.
Kevin Youkilis (Red Sox) had a monster game against the Yankees in the middle game (and only Boston win) over their recent match-up. Youk had three hits, including a double and two long home runs, good for 10 total bases and six runs batted in, as the Sox returned the Yankees’ football game of the night before (Yankees 20, Red Sox 11), beating their arch-rivals, 14-1. Both three-run shots came with two outs and broke a streak of 11 games without a rund-tripper for Youkilis.
Scott Feldman (Rangers) followed up his fourth loss of the year with his 13th win. He pitched a gem, striking out a career-high 11 batters in seven shutout innings, allowing just four hits and two walks. With 13 wins, he has already doubled his previous career-best. And with a reported salary of less than $435,000, what a bargain!
Ian Kinsler (Rangers) continues his pursuit of entrance into the 30-30 club. He stands at 26 HR and 24 SB with about six weeks left to go.
Jason Marquis (Rockies) is just one win away from tying his career best 15. He currently leads the National League in that department, following his latest, a 5-4 victory over the Nationals on Aug. 19. Marquis pulls down some hefty change, though: $9.875 mil.
Ryan Braun (Brewers) had six hits during the week (two doubles, no homers) and remains in the top ten among NL batters in homers, batting average, slugging percentage, runs batted in, and runs scored.
Craig Breslow (As) pitched two innings over three games, giving up two hits and fanning two.
John Grabow (Cubs) also pitched two innings in three outings, picking up his 18th “hold.”
Gabe Kapler (Rays) hasn’t been seeing much playing time of late. He had only four at bats for the week.
Josh Whitesell (Diamondbacks) was hitless in five at bats (one start, two pinch=hitting appearances).
Brad Ausmus (Dodgers) wuz robbed (see below). He’s still batting over .300 though.
Sam Fuld (Cubs) has twice pulled off the No. 1 “Web Gem” from ESPN. The first came when he robbed the Dodgers’ Manny Ramirez of a home run on Aug. 21. He also scored the only run in a 2-1 loss. Then he made this grab against landsman Ausmus (it’s the last one in the clip. Thanks for Korner reader Jeff Fraum for the heads up on the batter. Jews stealing from Jews, tsk, tsk).

Braun is also up there in total bases.
