When it comes to their fans, They Might Be Giants

Except they’re Jets. And that goes for U2.

When the NFL schedule was released back in April, there was a hue and cry because the Jets were scheduled to play their game against the Tennessee Titans (does anyone out there remember Tennessee Tuxedo?) was scheduled for 4:15 on Sept. 27 — Yom Kippur. This was on top of the home game the previous Sunday — the second day of Rosh Hashana — against the New England Patriots.

The League, realizing it’s error, changed the game to 1 p.m., which meant the Jet game would vie for a television audience with their co-tenants and NFC counterparts, the Giants.

Well, it’s not just football that had to change plans. U2 is performing two concert at the Meadowlands. The first takes place Thursday, Sept. 24. The second was originally scheduled for Friday, Sept. 25, but according to this piece in the New York Daily News, it was switched to Sept. 23, because it takes so long to strike the stage, it wouldn’t be done by the 1 p.m. game time on the 27th.

One error in the News‘ piece: it’s the Jets, not the Giants, who are at home that date, as a couple of Jets’ fans/commenters to the article attest. Big Blue is playing at Tampa Bay.
