JML update: Games of Sept. 9

On the ups: Scott Feldman (Rangers) won his 16th game in a lopsided 10-0 contest — and I use the word advisedly — against the Indians. He pitched seven innings of five-hit, shutout ball, lowering his earned run average to 3.46 and tying him for the league lead in victories. Teammate Ian Kinsler was 1-5 with a run scored.John Grabow (Cubs) made his third consecutive appearance, pitching a scoreless inning in Chicago’s 8-5 win over his former team, the Pirates. Kevin Youkilis (Red Sox) was 2-3 with two walks and two runs scored as Boston beat Baltimore, 7-5. Jason Marquis (Rockies) entered the game against the Reds as a pinch-runner in the ninth inning and ended up scoring the winning run in the 4-3 decision.

On the downs: Ryan Braun (Brewers) was 0-4 in a 5-1 loss to the Cardinals. Gabe Kapler (Rays) struck out as a pinch hitter in Tampa’s 4-2 loss to the Yankees.

Pareve: Sam Fuld (Cubs) was hitless in one at bat in the win over Pittsburgh. Craig Breslow (As) pitched a scoreless inning, but Oakland fell to the White Sox 4-3 in 13 innings.

DNP: Aaron Poreda (Padres), Brad Ausmus (Dodgers)
