You are what you say you are or what others perceive you to be. The fact that he is of Jewish ancestry and was raised Christian is interesting to me. Can you give me any background on this ? (Just out of curiosity.)

All I can tell you, Richard, is that after several queries about Edelman, I contacted the team’s media relations office who gave me that information. Beyond that, I don’t want to pry. It’s a personal matter and a decision many interfaith families have to decide.
From the wikipedia page, a quote from a Toronto newspaper:
“..a few hard-edged reporters cornered Julian Edelman, the only combination defensive back-receiver in the game and asked a pertinent question: “What’s a nice Jewish boy doing in the Super Bowl?”
“Well,” he said, “I’m not completely Jewish, if you know what I mean. I know people want me to be. My father is Jewish. My mother isn’t. I’ve been asked this before. I guess you could say I’m kind of Jewish but not really.”
The same wiki page says Edelman was raised a Christian, which removes him from the roles of Jewish sports as per the Jewish Sports Review criteria. So unless Edelman has changed his “tune”…
