Ian Kinsler, Weatherman
Back in the day, when major league ballplayers were pulling in salaries that average in the tens of thousands, it wa necessary to find a job in the off-season. Some might work in auto dealerships, others in banks…even Ted Williams, an avide outdoorsman, hawked Sears products, as well as other merchandise.

So apropos to yesterday’s item about predictions, we have Texas Ranger second baseman Ian Kinlser serving as a “weatherman,” offering his considered opinion on the outcomes of the Divisional Series for The on-line version of The Sporting News as part of a 33-man contingent of “experts,” including active and formers players, managers, and Fay Vincent, who served as Commissioner of baseball before Bud Selig.
Kinsler’s picks:
- Phillies over Rockies in four games
- Cardinals over Dodgers in five
- Red Sox over Angels in four
- Twins over Yankees in five
For what it’s worth, here any my selections:
- Phillies in five
- Dodgers in four
- Red Sox in five
- Yankees in four
What the heck, I have about a good a chance to be right as any of these guys.

Twins over the Yankees? What is Kinsler smoking?
My picks are the same as yours, except I have the Cardinals winning in four.
