Playing catch-up
In my excitement about Yankees Camp, I’ve been a bit remiss in non-baseball items, so let’s see.
The NBA got under way a couple of nights ago.
- Jordan Farmar (LA Lakers) scored four points in 15 minutes in the NBA Champions’ first game against the LA Clippers on Tuesday.
- Omri Caspi (Sacramento Kings) made his regular season debut last night in a 102-89 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Caspi scored 15 points off the bench — the second highest for his team — and pulled down three rebounds in just over 19 minutes.
In the NFL
- Tackle Ian Olshanky made one tackle in the Cowboys’ 37-21 win over the Atlanta Falcons. Guard Kyle Kosier also started the game.
- Sage Rosenfels has still not appeared in a regular season game for the Minnesota Vikings (I pretty much cut and paste this line every week), who lost their first game of the year to the Pittsburgh Steelers, 27-17.
- Long snapper David Binn and the San Diego Chargers beat the Kansas City Chiefs, 37-7.
- Carolina Panthers’ tackle Geoff Schwartz played in the team’s 20-9 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
- Aaron Podlesh and his Jacksonville Jaguars teammates enjoyed their bye week.
In the NHL
- Mike Brown, Anaheim Ducks, right wing, has played in 10 games, with one assist.
- Mathieu Schneider, Vancouver Canucks, defenseman, made his first start on Oct. 25, returning from off-season surgery. He has one goal in two games.
- Jeff Halpern, Tampa Bay Lightning, center, has appeared in nine games.
- Mike Cammalleri, Montreal Canadiens, center, leads his team with five goals and 12 points (goals plus assists) in 12 games
- Eric Nystrom, Calgary Flame, left wing, has four goals and one assist in 11 games.
