Anyway, Welcome to the big time, Omri Casspi. The Sacramento King rookie gets the treatment from the legendary publication this week with Lee Jenkins’ profile, “Welcome, the King of Israel.”
It’s been quite a week for Casspi. He made his first NBA start on Dec. 16 against the Washington Wizards, popping 22 points and five rebounds in 37+ minutes in the 112-109 win. He scored another 21 in his next start, Dec. 18, a 112-96 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, and 11 points in the Dec. 19 96-95 win over the Milwaukee Bucks. With 12 wins, the Kinds are just five away from tying the total for all of the 2008-09 season.
Casspi’s been a very nice surprise. I thought he would be solid, but he’s surpassed my expectations. You could even make an argument for ROY consideration, at least top 3.
