Of course Jews don’t like the sport
Lacrosse? “The Cross?” Hel-lo!?!
Our favorite “yiddishist,” Michael Wex, writes about the incongruity of the popular suburban (read, “goyisher”) sport on his website.

Ron Kaplan is the sports and features editor for the New Jersey Jewish News. Drop him a line at rkaplan(at)njjewishnews(dot)com.
One of my favorite sportswriters/authors, Maury Allen, is, unfortunately, not doing too well these days.
Allen, a veteran of the New York Post and Sports Illustrated, recently published Dixie Walker of the Dodgers: The People's Choice (University of Alabama Press). He was scheduled to appear at the Yogi Berra Museum in Little Falls with Susan Walker, Dixie's daughter and co-author of the book, but ill health has caused the cancellation of the program.
I had read his newspaper and magazine articles for years, as well as most of his books, now numbering close to 40, and when I finally had the chance to meet him at a YBM event, I found him to be a charming and welcoming personality.
I'm sure Maury would love to hear from his fans out there, so why not do a mitzva and send him a note or card?
The address is Maury Allen, 703 Holly Lane, Cedar Grove, NJ 07009.
