World Cup: Deciding what “counts”

The other day I wrote about how the lack of statistics kinda made the whole soccer thing a downer for me.

I stand semi-corrected.

While The New York Times (and other papers, I’m sure) have started including a variety of numerological aspects, it seems kind of forced, like they’re throwing us a bone. Touches, shots on goal, “heat zones.” Meh.

Just sayin’.
