Dodging the draft

Jon Scheyer, one of the heroes for Duke, failed to draw any tangible interest in the NBA draft. Whether it was ever his ambition to be a pro is a subject of debate.

On the other hand, as Korner friend Jonathan Mayo writes ion the Pittsburgh Jewish Chronicle, Michael Fagan, a hot prospect from the San Diego Jewish Academy, chose to pass up on being selected by the home town Padres (what would a nice Jewish boy be doing on the Padres anyway?) to attend Princeton.

“We have had a few people go out and see [Fagan] pitch, and he’s definitely an interesting kid,” Padres scouting director Jaron Madison said. “He’s looking forward to starting a pro career — not sure if that’s going to happen before or after he goes to college. My money would say he’s probably going to go to Princeton, which is a good thing, because not very many people can get into Princeton.”
