Waive goodbye

September can be an interesting month, if your team isn’t a pack of choking dogs. There’s a lot of strategy floating around, as when players are made available on the waiver wire. A contender can pick up a castoff who might very well put them over the top, as Manny Ramirez did for the Dodgers a couple of years ago (and may do again for the White Sox this year).

But the waiver process can be a bit confusing, so as a public service, here’s a cogent explanation, as provided by Sports Illustrated.
