It was 60 years ago today…

St. Paul first baseman Lou Limmer is named Rookie of the Year in the American Association after leading the league with 29 homers and 111 RBIs.

I had the pleasure of visiting Limmer at his Old Bridge home a few months before he passed away in 2007.

  • Neat story of 3 Jews at the plate. Wonder if it’s been replicated more recently. Nice write up on Limmer.

  • I believe there was an instance more recently with Jesse Levis catching, Al Clark umping behind the plate, and the batter — whose name escapes me — also a Jew.

  • I think it was Shawn Green when he was with the Blue Jays.

  • Thanks fellas.
