In yesterday’s Sunday Times, Harvey Araton published this sweet tribute to veteran sportswriters Maury Allen, left, and Viv Ziegel, both of whom passed away over the last few months.
While I didn’t know Mr. Ziegel, I did have the pleasure of making Maury‘s acquaintance and though I didn’t have the same relationship with him as Araton, I did find him very open and charitable when it came to doing my stories with his help or about him.
Allen wrote some 40 books on sports and other topics, while Ziegel published a few as well.
So thank you, Harvey, for reminding us of these fine gentlemen.
