JFL update

Not much going on except wondering/worrying about whether there will be an NFL season this year.

Most of the off-season news centers around Gabe Carimi, Chicago’s first-round draft pick who has already picked up a new nickname: “the Bear Jew.” Actually this is kind of cool, a nod to the character Sgt. Donny Donowitz, a baseball-bat wielding “hero” in Quentin Tarentino’s  2009 movie, Inglorious Basterds, played by Eli Roth.

Carimi is quickly becoming a fan favorite before even playing a professional down.

Expectations are that he will immediately step into a starting role as right tackle though that might not be where he eventually ends up.

As for some of the other Jewish NFLers, the Dallas Cowboys Times blog asks if the team should re-sign Kyle Kosier. And is the Panthers’ Geoff Schwartz really a secret superstar? And how long will Taylor Mays remain a 49er?
