Kevin Youkilis hit home run No. 11 in yesterday’s 12-3 win over Ryan Braun and the Brewers. Overall, Youkilis was 4-10 with the home run and a double. The Red Sox took two of the three games.
Ryan Braun was 3-11 with a double and no RBIs in the series. He appeared in the Sunday game as the Brewers’ designated hitter.
Ian Kinsler was 5-15 with a double as the Rangers took two of three from the host Braves. He also notched his 14th stolen base.
Danny Valencia put on a power display over the weekend, homering in both of the games he played against the visiting Padres. His three-run blast on Friday put the Twins up 5-0 in a game they would hang on to win, 6-5, and his solo shot in the second inning on Saturday was the only run of the contest. Unfortunately, he suffered a strained bicep and had to come out; he also sat on Sunday.
Sam Fuld, appeared in two of the three games in the Rays’ interleague series against their cross-state rivals, the Marlins, going 2-7 with two runs scored, and an RBI in seven at-bats. He also made a couple of sparkling defensive plays.
Jason Marquis, came away with a no-decision in Friday’s game against the Orioles. True, he didn’t pitch great — 12 hits in 5.1 innings — but he left in the sixth with one out, two on, and the Nationals leading 4-2 before turning it over to a bullpen that let him down. The Nationals wound up winning the game 8-4. He was 0-1 at the plate with a sacrifice and a run scored.
John Grabow appeared in the Saturday 4-3 loss to the Yankees, allowing a hit in .2 innings.
