JML update, weekend edition
Back to a minyan: Welcome back, Danny. The Minn. Twins promoted third baseman Danny Valencia for their Saturday game against the visiting Cleveland Indians. In his first game back, Valencia was 1-4 with a double, two runs scored, and one RBI. Overall, he was x-x.
Go, Ike! Four of Ike Davis‘ five hits (in 13 at bats) went for home runs for the NY Mets but none of them contributed to a winning cause. The Mets lost the Friday (one HR) and Saturday (three) games, but won on Sunday, as Davis was hitless in five at bats. What makes his three-homer game especially sweet was that it came on the day when Davis, a native of Arizona, met with friends to mark a solemn occasion. From ESPN.com: “Davis and the Diamondbacks’ Chris Young had distributed bracelets pregame to players on both teams in memory of Davis’ childhood friend Mike Lio, who died from Ewing’s sarcoma in 2009, shortly before Davis made his major league debut.” (You can enjoy his performance here.)

Kinsler’s teammate Scott Feldman is on a roll.he picked up his third straight win and fifth in his last six decisions to improve to 5-6 on the strength of eight shutout innings in the Rangers’ 2-0 win over the White Sox last night. Feldman allowed seven hits (six of which were singles), struck out five, and walked no one.
