JML update, Aug. 16 (updated)

Sam Fuld was in the leadoff spot for the Tampa Bay Rays. He was 0-3 and saw 15 pitches in those three at bats, second most on the team. Can’t single him out, though. No one on the Rays got on base as the Seattle Mariners’ Felix Hernandez pitched a perfect game. Thanks to MLB.com (at least for the time being), you can watch a condensed version of every out here:

UPDATE: Talk about BIRG (basking in reflect glory for the uninitiated), here’s a video of the Mariners’ AA team watching Hernandez’s perfecto:

Scott Feldman pitched well for the Texas Rangers, but they nevertheless dropped their third straight game to the host NY Yankees, 3-2. Feldman pitched six innings, allowing all three runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out seven. Ian Kinsler was 0-4 last night and is 0-11 with four strikeouts over the first three games of the four-game series.

Ike Davis was 0-3 as the Mets lost their third straight to the host Cincinnati Reds, 6-1.

Kevin Youkilis returned to his #2 spot in the batting order and had a single in four at bats. he also scored a run as the Chicago White Sox beat the host Toronto Blue Jays, 9-5.

Craig Breslow pitched 1.1 scoreless innings with one strikeout as the Boston Red Sox lost to the host Baltimore Orioles, 5-4. Danny Valencia entered the game as a defensive replacement at third base in the bottom of the eight and did not come to bat. Ryan Lavarnway did not appear in the game.

Michael Schwimer gave up three hits and two runs in 2/3 of an inning, the by that point the Miami Marlins already had the game in hand over the visiting Philadelphia Phillies. Final score, 9-2.

The struggling Ryan Braun was given the night off as his Milwaukee Brewers lost to the host Colorado Rockies, 7-6, to complete the three-game sweep. Quirky factoid: scores for the games — 9-6 on Monday, 8-6 on Tuesday, 7-6 last night; the Brewers were getting closer. (Thanks to KK chaver Ari for the link.)

Jason Marquis did not appear in the game as the San Diego Padres lost to the host Atlanta Braves, 6-1.
