Say it ain’t so, Jordan
Dissatisfied with his trade to the Atlanta Hawks last month, Jordan Farmar asked to be bought out of his contract. He has signed with Turkey’s Anadolu Efes team for a reported $105 $10.5 million over three years.
At this point, that leaves Omri Casspi as the lone Jew in the NBA. But where will he play?
SB Nation: “Cavaliers Do Not Have Deal With Alonzo Gee, Will Not Buy Out Omri Casspi, According To Report” (Aug. 20)
Times of Israel: “Omri Casspi denies he’s being sent packing — Cleveland said to buy out contract of first Israeli-born NBAer after mediocre season” (Aug. 20)

If it’s really 105 million, I can’t blame him, lol, but I think you just missed a decimal. Seriously though, I read about this move a few weeks ago and it doesn’t make much sense to me. He’s not a star player, but there should still be a place for him in the NBA and I imagine he received some offers. It’s on par money, or maybe even a little more than he would get in the NBA right now, but he’ll be largely forgotten in Turkey of all places, cutting right into the prime of his career to boot. Would have made a little more sense if he chose to play for a team in Israel I suppose. Don’t know why he decided to make the move, but I wish him luck.
