JML update, Aug. 31
Wow, where did the summer go?
Not much happening yesterday.
Ryan Braun had another monster game. He went 3-4 (including his 36th home run and 27th double) with a walk, three runs scored, two RBIs, and a stolen base thrown in for fun. Unfortunately, the Milwaukee Brewers lost, 12-11, when the host Chicago Cubs scored three in the bottom of the ninth. Braun probably wishes he faced the Cubs more often: in the four-game series, he had 10 hits in 18 at bats, including four doubles and two home runs. he scored six runs and drove in seven.
The NY Mets’ brief winning streak came to an end with their 3-2 loss to the host Philadelphia Phillies. Ike Davis was 0-4 in the game.
Sam Fuld was 0-3 out of the ninth spot as the Tampa Bay Rays lost to the host Toronto Blue Jays, 2-0.
Ryan Lavarnway was 0-3 with a walk batting seventh as the Boston Red Sox fell to the host Los Angeles Angels, 5-2. Neither Ryan Kalish nor Craig Breslow appeared for the Sox.
In preparation for their important series against the Detroit Tigers, the Chicago White Sox rested Kevin Youkilis yesterday as they lost to the host Baltimore Orioles, 5-3.
The Texas Rangers (Ian Kinsler, Scott Feldman) did not play.
Jason Marquis (San Diego Padres) is on the disabled list.
