NY Mets first baseman Ike Davis will host his annual charity event, “A Night with Ike Davis,” at the City Winery in Manhattan on Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. The evening is a benefit for Solving Kids’ Cancer and the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative.
After losing his childhood friend, Mike Lio, to Ewing’s Sarcoma at the age of 22, Davis has devoted his philanthropic efforts to raising funds and awareness for cancer research. On July 28, playing in his home state of Phoenix against the Arizona Diamondbacks, Davis hit three home runs in a 6-3 loss. It was made all the more special because many of Davis’ friends were on hand to recall their buddy Lio.
Several of Davis’ teammates are schedule to attend the event, including
